We spent hours on a sailboat, exploring vibrant marine life and feeling the gentle breeze. That evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, the moment was perfect. With the sky painted in colors of pink and orange, I said yes to forever.

After the proposal, we realized that this beautiful island held more than just memories; it would be the ideal location for our wedding. It only made sense to return exactly 12 months later, surrounded by the same breathtaking scenery where we first began our journey together.

The excitement of planning a wedding in paradise soon took hold. After returning home, we dove headfirst into organizing our big day. I decided that it was only right that I made my own dress, I knew it needed to be lightweight, simple and elegant to suit the climate and surrounds.

Arriving in Bora Bora on a Friday filled us with emotions. The island’s beauty enveloped us, and the air was thick with anticipation. With our wedding planner away until Sunday, we had a few days to relax and soak in our surroundings

During our free days, we explored the island and indulged in local cuisine. Lazy afternoons were spent basking on the beach, enjoying each other's company. Despite the planner's absence, we took this time to reinforce our bond and reflect on how far we’d come.

When Sunday arrived, the excitement was palpable as we met with our wedding planner. We double-checked our final details and confirmed that everything was on track. Their reassurance made us feel at ease.

A Beautiful Beginning on Our Wedding Day

Our wedding day started with a lovely breakfast overlooking the lagoon. There’s something magical about good food, beautiful scenery, and special moments shared. After breakfast, I couldn’t resist jumping into the ocean for a refreshing swim.

As the morning progressed, the anticipation heightened. I eagerly awaited the arrival of the hair and makeup artists. They arrived promptly, transforming excitement into joy. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, happy tears, and palpable energy.

The wedding planner arrived late to drive me to the chapel apologising and letting me know she was delayed as the wrong musician had arrived…he couldn’t sign in English. We made the decision at that point lets go with it.

Preparing to walk down the aisle felt surreal. The makeup artist worked magic, transforming me into the bride I had always dreamed of being. Each detail was perfect, from the makeup to my elegant hairstyle. Meanwhile, the groom prepared separately.

The warmth of the sun surrounded me as I walked down the aisle to meet my groom. The chapel, adorned with flowers (well they were on the floor, something different) and breath taking views, set the tone for our momentous occasion. The ceremony was intimate. Every word felt like a promise, carried by the ocean's waves. We shared joyful laughter, heartfelt tears, and embraced the beauty of nature surrounding us. As we exchanged rings, the world faded away, leaving just the two of us.

As day turned to night, we celebrated with a beautiful reception by the beach. Dinner featured traditional local dishes, and heartfelt toasts from family and friends filled the air. Surrounded by Bora Bora’s serene beauty, we danced under the stars, twinkling overhead like our hearts.
